HIMSS Phsician Community
HIMSS and the Association of Medical Directors of Information Systems (AMDIS)have joined forces to form the HIMSS Physician Community. The community’s purpose is to articulate a cohesive voice for HIMSS physicians and to provide strategic direction, official positions, leadership, guidance and domain expertise to HIMSS activities, industry initiatives, and collaborations with physician societies across the country. The alliance between HIMSS and AMDIS formalizes all efforts with an enhanced and focused strategy for physicians engaged in HIT and management systems.
The HIMSS/AMDIS Physician Community is dedicated to providing leadership and expertise in areas of interest to all physicians. To that end, our Leadership Committee has formed several work groups that will be create and deliver content, tools, resources and responses to public comment periods that impact physicians nationally and globally. We encourage you to lend your time and talent to one of the following endeavors: (You need to be an MD/DO and a member of either HIMSS or AMDIS to join a work group).
Advocacy & Public Policy Work Group
Reviews, provides input from physician perspective for public comment on legislative or regulatory language such as "meaningful use," certification, e-Prescribing, clinical decision support, etc.
Managed Care/Payer Work Group
Address issues affecting managed care in an EMR environment.
Education Work Group
Select topics, speakers and moderators for podcasts, webinars and assist with Physician Community web site content and appearance. Coordinate Marketing efforts to military, the VA, medical schools and medical societies to encourage membership in and support of the Physician Community.
